Noesis (nō-ˈe-sis) is defined as the psychological result of perception, learning and reasoning, in essence it’s the art of reflective understanding in the pursuit of one’s own path. I suppose it’s pretty esoteric stuff at the highest level, but the term can be applied to anything that we would like to understand more deeply, for me that is marketing. It’s what I do and what I love, especially when it’s done right and on a human level, targeting our most likely customers while providing value and relevance.
While I’ll provide some “how to…” concepts from time to time, I’m looking to take a broader view of the world of strategic marketing by exploring what is working for organizations and what is not, whether it’s a non-profit, small business, large company or professional association. What makes for truly effective communication? How can we tell better stories? How can we make our marketing more relevant and add value to the lives of our customers? At the end of the day a truly dynamic marketing strategy has the goal of developing singular relationships with customers, members, donors and so on. Your messages have to be compelling and most of all relevant to them, but that’s just part of the game, once the content is developed you have to get the message out to your audience and that can be just as tricky as the creating the content itself.
About me:
My name is Courtney, I’m a marketing professional living in the Raleigh, NC area. I’m also an aspiring musician, amateur cook, semi-avid outdoorsman, craft beer enthusiast, and father-in-training. I have experiences to share from both the B2B and B2C worlds, I’ve seen a lot, some incredible successes and some monumental failures. What I find most exciting about marketing is the sense of adventure, you have to be willing to take risks, draw outside the lines, move beyond conventional wisdom, test, and ultimately implement those ideas in a coherant strategy that can be executed on. I try to take that spirit of adventure into the other facets of my life, this blog being one example. While I want to give voice to the things I do know, I have a lot to learn and my hope is that this site will provide an outlet for gaining a deeper undertanding of marketing. I’ll also share some of my non-marketing adventures. I hope you enjoy, if you’d like to email me directly please direct all messsages to noesismarketing@gmail.com.
